• Anthropic are recognizing that AI development will ask a lot of the energy system, and commit to cover investment costs for this, instead of it being reflected in consumer pricing.
• David Yanagizawa-Drott, economics professor at the University of Zurich, is running experiments in autonomous scientific research (APEP). He recently shared a screenrecording which showcases a 6-hour session of an agent autonomously (with some instructions here and there) performing a macro-economics research project and writing a 50+ page paper. More interestingly, he shares his thoughts on what this means, with which I very much agree.
